Finding God in Music

By Lane P. Jordan:

I was able to attend a concert recently, composed of a full, professional symphony orchestra.

At first, I sat on the edge of my seat so that I could see each instrument perform its part in the music. I could hear the violins along with the horns and the percussion along with the oboe.

Then, I sat back in my chair, closed my eyes and began to hear the musical piece as one unit. Not trying to hear each separate part, I was able to hear the whole and in doing so, the music carried me along a path of beauty and inspiration.

As the music played I also began to think that this must be a tiny idea of what the sounds will be like in heaven! The music will be so beautiful as well as deeply penetrating that we will be carried along the paths of heaven as a gentle breeze.

At that moment, I found God in my thoughts and in my spirit.  He is the creator, after all, of music and uses it to bring his creation to Himself.

I went to a concert one person and left as another: A person whose spirit is uniquely tied to the heavenly Creator of everything. And with joyful and excited thoughts of heaven as I was finding God in music–beautiful music.
