By Karen O’Connor:

Sometimes with all the distractions in life, we need to lean in a little closer to hear God.

“Have you ever been in a crowded, noisy room trying to have a conversation with someone?” Victoria Osteen, wife of famous preacher Joel Osteen, asks this pointed question in a recent blog.

“If you can’t hear what they are saying, what do you do? Most likely, you lean in just a little bit closer so you can hear them better. You probably focus more intently on their facial expressions so you can understand what they are communicating. In the same way, when the noise of life seems overwhelming, that’s when we need to lean into God just a little bit closer. That’s when we need to make the extra effort to focus more intently on Him.”

These words of practical wisdom can help anyone who is distressed, worried, or confused.

When I feel overwhelmed by life’s challenges or overlooked by someone I love, I now lean in to God a little closer, knowing that he will guide me to a solution that will be right for me as well as for the other person or situation.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding” (Proverbs 3:5 the Bible).
