Finding God in prayer sounds like an oxymoron! One would think you had already found Him if you are praying to Him.
However, how many times have you been so crushed, so alone, so destitute that you couldn’t even pray one word to God?
I have been brought so low by times so dark I could scarcely form the words to pray. I have lain on the floor, weeping and not knowing what to say or even to have the energy or breath for prayer much less the presence of mind to formulate the right words.
And then all I could do was say, “God. Please”. And I knew, without any other words spoken that He heard me. He was there. He already knew what I was trying to pray.
And that was when I found God. I didn’t have to be perfect. He just wanted me to cry out to him with my heart and soul.
God knows what we need. I found a verse that showed me what had happened to me that day in prayer:
“And in the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groaning too deep for words.” Romans 8:26
I didn’t know how to pray or what words to use. But God did. And so finding God in prayer happened.
Prayer is good for the soul and for our pets, as you can see in the video below with the praying dog.
